Anxiety and stress

Hi loves,

Exams are coming up for me and I am completely stressed out. There is so much to do, but there is so little time. Horrible! Here are some ways I like to reduce stress if I am stressed out.

1. Remember stress is in no way helping you. While stress can be extremely beneficial in short term processes such as running competitions or boxing matches, it is actually very harmful for the rest of your body. The hormones released don't only target the heart and muscles, but they are very unspecific and so can end up anywhere in your body. Too much stress causes your digestion to temporarily slow down, which leads to reduced bowel movement. And.. the last thing you want while being nervous is a painful stomach! Remember to calm down every so often and really do it, you'll be grateful for it.

2. Drink some tea and listen to calm music. Don't opt for coffee as this as a lot of caffeine that raises anxiety and stress hormones, just drink some tea and listen. Focus on the words in the music and let go of all the tasks you still have in front of you.

3. Something that is really beneficial for reducing stress is cuddling with animals. Large levels of Oxytocin, or the 'cuddle hormone' are released by the brain which makes you calm and content. If you don't have a pet, ask a friend/neighbour if you can borrow their dog to go on a walk. Do make sure the pet you choose likes to cuddle, because you don't want to get bit.... Causes more stress you know?

4. Do something that you absolutely love. It can be anything; singing in the shower, going for a run, drawing, reading, just get absorbed into a thing you really enjoy to do! Chances are you will forget about all your tasks/things that are coming which make you nervous.

5. Think about ways the task/event will benefit you. Anxiety is there because you care for something and you are scared it will go wrong. By changing your mind around to the positive side, you can really help yourself reduce stress.

Favourite Songs for Fall ♥

Hi Loves,

Here's a follow-up for my fall Essentials because I think music is so lovely it deserves its own post :). So here are the songs I have been listening to (and loving) lately.

1. Still Falling For you - Ellie Goulding. After going to Bridget Jones's Baby, where I heard this song for the first time, I have been hooked on this song and it has been on replay ever since. It's just so addicting! Instant happiness guaranteed!

2. Rise - Katy Perry. When I'm feeling down this song will just make me so motivated to undertake things again! It gets you up to do whatever you were trying to do before and makes you so energized to finish your goals and dreams.

3. Clay - Grace Van Der Waal. This one doesn't even need an explanation.

4. (My guilty pleasure) Christmas songs.... I know! I know! You don't have to tell me it's way too early for them. Just. I know. Regardless, they're pretty awesome and listening them too early makes them even more fun. It just gets me in such a festive spirit even if it isn't Christmas (yet).

5. The Greatest - Sia. Another one that doesn't really need an explanation. It's just addictive. I don't know why, how or what. It's just addictive, trust me on that one!

Aside from these particular songs I really like to look up fall playlists on Spotify, they're just put together very nicely and perfect for these rainy days.

My autumn/fall essentials

Hi loves,

After a long, awesome summer the weather has cooled down and the leaves have started falling. It is autumn/fall! Personally, I really love the coziness fall represents and sitting inside with some nice candles and a cup of tea. However, I hate fall if I have to go out. I literally despise it so much! Getting drowned in the rain just is not my thing. So here are some necessities to have an awesome time building up to Christmas and new year!

1. Candles, candles candles. Girl, you need candles. They're perfect to give your room a nice glow while the days get darker and they can even be scented very nicely too! But if candles aren't your thing, fairy lights work just as well! Just light up your room ♥

2. waterproof clothing. Now, I know; they are not fashionable at all, look rather stupid and we all hate them equally as much. But especially in climates where it rains a lot, you'll need them. Just invest in some good clothing to stay dry, they don't need to be pretty, just practical. Nothing is worse than getting completely soaked in the morning and being in wet clothes all day. Don't get sick loves, just wear your maybe-not-so-awesome-raining jacket :)

3. Warm drinks. It can be tea, coffee, hot chocolate, anything. Just find something you really enjoy to warm up again in case it gets real cold or you forgot your rain jacket... ;)

4. Books! It might not be for everyone but I really enjoy a good book in the darker days. I love snuggling up with a cup of tea to read a novel and immerse myself in it. Some of my recommendations are: a court of thorns and roses, the lunar chronicles, never let me go, thirteen reasons why, and finally, the book thief.

5. A thoroughly cleaned room. When fall arrives I really like to clean out all the cabinets and closets in my room. Take out the old stuff, clean the shelves, dust off everything. Having a clean room makes being inside a lot more enjoyable as you don't have to look at junk the entire time. (And you'll be ready to decorate for Christmas...)

6. My last fall essential is a notebook. Because of the rainy days, I'm inside a lot more and so I have more time to think about all kinds of stuff, so I like to have a notebook by my side to write my ideas down. This is something I really enjoy personally, but you don't have to. Maybe you just like to think about stuff and forget it again.

Review: Rimmel London Kate Sculping Kit ♥

Today I'll be giving you my personal opinion on the sculpting kit by Kate. I bought the kit in the colour 001 Golden Sands for $15 in the drugstore. The packaging looks really pretty with the rose gold and transparent lid, and I was really hoping the product would look as amazing as the packaging was.

When I got home I couldn't wait to try it out, and when I finally did... I was a bit disappointed to say the least. I first swatched the 'Highlight Illuminer' and found it to be pretty chalky and almost matte. I like highlighters that ''glow'' if you get what I mean, so this just wasn't cutting it for me.
Then I tried the 'Contour Sculpter'. This one sadly didn't even show up on my skin, which is also kind of an achievement as I am usually the lightest foundation in store. But hey, this contourcolour was my skin colour! Again, it was very chalky, but I must give this one points for being matte. It would be kind of weird to have a shiny contour and a matte highlighter.
When I got to the last part, the 'Blush Colorer' I had lost my confidence completely. The thing was, the blush was actually very, very pretty. It wasn't as chalky as the first 2 were and the colour was beautiful! It gives you a very nice pink glow like you've been outside on a cold winter day and so I would recommend it more as a fall/winter blush.

Overall I would give this product a 3/10 for the great packaging and blush. However, I would just recommend to spend your money on a good blush instead of a blush with 2 unnecessary items.

What to do when someone puts you down

Hi Loves,

A more serious post today about something I hope you'll never experience, and if you do, here's my story and some useful tips with how to respond.

Just the other day I was in class, and we had a lesson of one of my favourite teachers. We were discussing a poem and everyone had to share a 'thing' they had found in there (imagery etc.). When it was my turn, I discussed an idea I had about the poem. Well. That didn't get across too well. I interpreted one word the 'wrong' way and the teacher asked the entire class if they also thought my idea was wrong and 'too farfetched'. Now I have never heard of someone interpretating a poem in an incorrect way, but it was extremely humiliating to be in that situation and I was so glad to notice there were only 10 minutes left in that lesson. When the bell rang I quickly packed my bags and didn't even look back into the classroom.

But what can you do about it and how can you feel better about it?
1. It is important to not value the opinions and thoughts of others. Don't even give someone the power to make you feel down at all. If your entire class is against you, remember there are always people that do care about your thoughts and opinions even if they're not there with you to back you up.
2. Remember that the other person might not notice they hurt you. They could have a bad day and a short temper or they could struggle themselves. By letting their emotions go on you, they might feel better. It isn't justifiable at all, but just try to accept it and move on.
3. Talk to the person that put you down if you're in the position to do so. Sometimes it is impossible, but if you have the opportunity just talk to the person. It is the only way they'll notice how their actions affected you personally. Don't get too emotional, just casually explain the event and how you felt about it. It is very likely they'll regret it.
4. Whatever you do, don't talk back when you're emotional. Only answer when your emotions are in control. If they aren't you will be very likely to say things you are instantly going to regret, and chances are a little argument could explode into something way too big.
5. If none of these tips work? Just turn your back on the situation and never look back. It wasn't you that did anything wrong. Talk about it with someone close to you without gossiping about the other person, and let it go. Holding a grudge against someone has never done anyone any good.

Book Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses ♥ spoiler free

Hi loves,

I couldn't wait to start blogging again, so I would like to start off by a book review!

A book I have read quite a while ago but positively remember is A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I read it when I was in a reading slump but this novel lifted my spirits from page 1. The story is about a girl named Feyre who kills a wolf in a forest, however it isn't a normal wolf and she is captured and many more things happen. (Trust me, I'm dying to tell you and be so excited about everything that happens you will be astonished, but I can't because I don't want to spoil the story.)

The novel is full of action, excitement, romance and lies and it keeps you on the edge for the entire time you read it. Bonding with the characters is extremely easy, and Sarah J. Maas writes in such a way that sentences are easy to read and you really get into the story.

I really, really recommend you give it a try if you haven't already! Just... go and read it.. You won't regret it I promise you!

Time

Do you ever have that certain feeling that time is going way too fast, and there's no way you can hold onto it? Well that's how I feel now! It's been a year since my last post, but it feels like yesterday. So much has happened, and continues to happen. Hopefully, things will get more quiet! I do hope to start posting again every week starting Sunday! ♥ I hope you aren't fed up with me so we can start again where we left off. I still have the posts I wrote about one year ago, so I will modify them to what I am thinking now, a year later, and post them.
